Wednesday, June 17 at 7:30 pm at the Strauss Mansion in Atlantic Highlands Eileen Moon will share stories of the fascinating people who have made Red Bank a center for arts and culture at the Jersey Shore.
In Legendary Locals of Red Bank Ms. Moon tells of Red Bank residents like Sigmund Eisner, arriving in Red Bank from Austria empty-handed in 1880 and building a uniform manufacturing empire for the nation, Thomas Edison, experimenting with sonar in Red Bank before turning to electricity, the Irwin family, in the marine business on the Navesink River for 130 years and counting, the Drs. Parker, beloved physicians, and local garage musician turned Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Bruce Springsteen.
Eileen Moon has written about Red Bank for more than a quarter of a century as reporter, feature writer, and editor for the New York Times, Daily Register, Asbury Park Press, Two River Times and other publications. She will sign copies of Legendary Locals of Red Bank published in 2014 by Arcadia Publishing.
